The four C's. A polished diamond's value increases according to its
carat weight, colour, clarity and cut. This combination is known in the
diamond trade as "The 4 C's".
Polished diamonds come in a wide variety of shapes. The most common and
popular shape being the round "brilliant" cut diamond. Some
of the other shapes are: Emerald cut, Marquise, Pear shape, Princess and
the Asher cut. These beautiful gems are precision cut and polished by
experienced craftsmen. The cut of a diamond is very important, as it enables
light to reflect to and from its facets giving it brilliance. A badly
cut diamond will command a lower price then a well-cut stone of equivalent
shape, weight, colour and purity.
